I spotted a big fat bee enjoying a floral feast and got to snapping photos. I love how they dart around without fear, getting close to my camera lens then taking flight to find the next heaping bowl of nectar.

From today’s #climatestrike inspired blog post: Christians, and particularly Christians who have historically enjoyed friendship with Empire - from Constantine to the USA - have been operating under the assumption that dominion in all its forms can be upheld in the name of Jesus, or if not Jesus explicitly, the longer, larger Biblical narrative. We have done so not because we meant to, but because millennia’s worth of beloved teachers and preachers have woven this assumption into their writings, and it has made its way into our Bible translations, liturgies, and Sunday School classrooms. But the earliest and best story of God’s interaction with creation creates a compelling case for seeing our current plight as the sin that it is - the kind that just so happens to align with greed - and not as inevitability. Let me just go all out here and say it: environmental degradation in any form, but especially the kind that has led to swift and, arguably, irreversible climate change is sin. We as descendants of Adam and Eve, whose parents are Mother Earth, Breath of God, and each other, deny our creatureliness, ignore God’s abundant care, and sacrifice each other when we deny the need to care for God’s creation...link to the blog in my profile #creationcare #climatechange #environmentalism

This is the face of someone who: - couldn’t fill out my timesheet because I was missing a tax document, and thus can’t get paid - lost my car title so can’t register my car in CT until the replacement arrives, likely after my current registration expires - can’t get a new parking permit bc I can’t renew my car registration - went to the DMV twice today to renew my license but was turned away bc my proof of address mail didn’t say my full name - you know what they could have accepted for proof of address? A pay stub or car registration!

Today my Theology and Medicine class visited the Cushing Brain Room - with hundreds of human brains on display - and observed nursing students in the cadaver lab. Haven’t formed my thoughts on the second experience yet but the first one gets 2 thumbs up.

Had a bit of A DAY, if you know what I mean. Nothing really wrong except I’m exhausted and overwhelmed by a lack of time to care for my physical and mental needs. Still, proud of myself for recognizing and naming my limits. I’ll cut myself some slack in my reading, visit with friends who are coming to town, and enjoy the #soyouthinkyoucandance finale.
